JOIN US IN SUPPORTING OCEAN CONSERVATION CAUSE AND SYLVIA EARLE ALLIANCE (SEA)
As concerned members of the world's community, CIS Local Counsel Forum and RULG proudly support one of the leading ocean conservation organization, the Sylvia Earle Alliance (SEA).
SEA is a non-profit international marine conservation foundation committed to the creation and expansion of Marine Protected Areas around the globe, otherwise known as ~Hope Spots~ ranging from the deepest ocean to sunlit reefs and from the seamounts of the high seas to coastal seagrass meadows.
SEA raises public awareness about the urgent need for ocean protection and brings together partnerships that foster protection for ~Hope Spots~ in the form of policy-based solutions, local conservation programs, and public outreach.
The founder of SEA, Dr. Sylvia Earle, has been called Her Deepness by the New Yorker and the New York Times, Living Legend by the Library of Congress, and first Hero for the Planet by Time Magazine. Dr. Earle is an oceanographer, explorer, author and lecturer and is the Explorer-in-Residence at the National Geographic Society. Her research concerns marine algae and deep water ecosystems with special reference to exploration, conservation and the development and use of new technologies for access and effective operations in the deep sea and other remote environments. Dr. Earle has been awarded more than 100 national and international honors.
In honor of World Oceans Day (8 June), we invite CIS Local Counsel Forum Delegates to join us in extending support for protecting and restoring the world's oceans.
There are two options to contribute:
- You may donate through SEA's Web site (please note: a Google account is required to check out). If you choose this option please send us e-mail confirming that you have contributed (you do not have to indicate the amount of your contribution) so we may include your name in the pool of contestants for a Top Donor Prize.
- You may include your donation to your registration fee and we will wire transfer the amount of your contribution along with other contributions to SEA at the end of the Forum. You will receive a letter from SEA confirming the full amount of your donation.
Beautiful prizes are awaiting our top donors!
*** Those who donate $10,000.00 or more, will have an opportunity to join Dr. Sylvia Earle on a Mission Blue expedition to one of her ~Hope Spots~. The expedition is currently being planned to take place in 2013 on a large National Geographic ship. The voyage and will last 1 week with lectures daily as well as plenty of diving and snorkeling.
