Allen is a triple-qualified commercial lawyer (New York, Washington DC and England) with 30+ years of private practice experience in areas of practice which include corporate and international commercial transactions, capital markets (IPOs) M&A and joint ventures.

Prior to joining Egorov Puginsky Afanasiev & Partners in 2006, Allen was a partner in Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, a leading international law firm and has acted as a plc chairman and non-executive director for major international corporations in the United States and England.

In 1983-1987 Allen L. Thomas founded and served as managing partner of the Hong Kong Office of Paul, Weiss.

IAllen was a key member of the EPA&P team that advised UC RUSAL on its IPO on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2009/10 and is currently consulting a number of Russian companies, that are actively working on listing or planning to list on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

Allen was educated at Wesleyan University attaining a BA in 1961 and then attended Yale Law School where he attained an LLB in 1964. Allen also received the Thurman Arnold Prize for Advanced Appellate Advocacy. Allen was admitted to legal practice (US) in New York – 1965 and Washington DC – 1981. Allen also qualified as a Solicitor (UK) for England and Wales in 1996.
